Our programs foster biodesign thinking for young minds


Design challenge


Students engage in a unique medical device design challenge to prototype surgical robotics solutions for complex clinical challenges.  



Students attend guest lectures on engineering design, anatomy, and physiology by leading physicians and academics and participate in site tours for clinical robotic surgical systems in the operating room, such as the DaVinci Robotic System.

Winners of the challenge receive internships in medical device companies and research labs.


Skills Workshops

Workshops help students develop foundational skills in anatomy, computer science, mechanical engineering, and mathematics through focused applications in surgical robotics tasks, such as drilling, dissection, force feedback, and manipulator trajectory programming.
